I had a pot noodle for my lunch yesterday and on the sauce packet they have little 'Did you know' Facts and the one above is the one I had but I was wondering if it is true?IN DENMARK is it true that they used grated cheese instead of salt on icy roads?
I also read the header and was about to issue a ';don't be silly'; answer.... until I read the details.
I cannot imagine for one second that authorities would do this. Firstly, if you have ever trod on cheese, then it's slippy, so would make no sense. Secondly, the cost implication (cheese being more expensive than road salt to produce, plus the longevity aspect)
IfI were a local resident, I would be less than impressed if they were doing this in my area!
So I'm also curious now, on what basis do the companyground this on - so wonder if you will get a good answer back! (You would think a company as big as Unilever would get it's facts right though)
EDIT - great, well done! Hopefully they can answer you in time to post the answer in comments on your question.IN DENMARK is it true that they used grated cheese instead of salt on icy roads?
The cheese-thing must be a joke - they mostly use salt, and the only alternative I have ever heard of, is sand.
I thought it was a joke when I saw your headline :-) But I am very sure that that is not true. Have lived in Denmark most of my life and never heard of it.
Maybe once or twice, but that's not the way they do it regularly... there was an article about a town that used garlic salt.
I've never seen or heard of grated cheese. It's definitely salt.
