Is it true the faster you drive the more gas you use. Slower conserves?

Yes, the car is optimized for certain speeds. After that speed, your car will start to use more and more fuel. It's usually around 80kmph speed. You can try, after a while, the more and more fuel u press, but the car does not pick up in speed. after that, you're just pissing oil ...Is it true the faster you drive the more gas you use. Slower conserves?
Yes. your accelerator foot is attached directly to your wallet (which is attached directly to the gas pump at your local station)

Slower = less need to expend energyIs it true the faster you drive the more gas you use. Slower conserves?
Yes it is true. The faster you drive the more fuel you consume slower conserves
Yes, once you go over 60 miles per hour. However, if you keep the pedal steady, that also helps with gas consumption.
Yes it is true. The faster you go, the more resistance you get. It also helps conserve if you are in the correct gear (on manual transmissions) and the vehicle is not loaded down with extra weight. The heavier the vehicle weighs, the harder it pulls thus using more gas.
To a point yes. Automobiles to day are ';designed'; to give optimal economy at certain highway speeds-55 mph-.

Constant speed changes, hot rod starts, and excessive speed over and above the ';ideal'; speed wastes fuel.

As a car gets beyond its optimal economic speed it takes MORE horse power to go faster (moving a mass -your car- through a distance -from here to the store-in a given period of time is the classic definition of HP production) HP takes fuel. The more HP you ask for the more fuel you will burn. Constant speed changes are asking for more fuel to increase the mass/distance/time equation.

My dad was a cabbie for many years and of course he had to buy his own fuel. His advice in driving for maximun economy (long before it was a national issue) was to drive like there was an egg under the gas pedal.

Slow down, as a young person you got more time left to get there then I do. Why waste fuel in an attempt to beat me there when I will arrive only a few seconds later?
45 mph is on most cars the most fuel efficient (when overdrive kicks in) After that the power to increase speed is exponential. Which means for every mile over that it takes more horsepower to get it there.
