Many detailers will use dishsoap to help clean the car before clay baring a car and the polishing %26amp; waxingIs it true that using dishsoap to wash your car ruins the paint?
Dish soap is the best for this application. Trust me on this one.Is it true that using dishsoap to wash your car ruins the paint?
yes. Buy a car-wash solution at an autoparts store.
No. I've used it often - don't let it dry - if hot, do a section and rinse.
Ive heard that it does. I would recommend buying the soap made to wash cars, its pretty cheap like $2.50 - especially if you have a nice car.
It won't ruin the paint in so much as it leaves the paint unprotected. Dish soap is stronger than most car wash formulas and will wash away the wax. This will leave the car's actual paint vulnerable to dirt, acid, sunlight, etc. Car wash formulas are milder but will still remove wax. That's why you still need to wax your car after multiple washes.
It wouldn't be wrong to say Tide or other laundry detergents affect it. Dunno about Dish soaps.
generally speaking, yes
It may take off the wax but paints pretty tough
it can damage your clear coat and remove any wax that has been applied to your car. need to use a car soap you can buy just about anywhere.
