The Mormons said that Catholics have Baptism for the dead in their history records.Is It True That Catholics Use To Baptize Dead People?
*blinks* I have NEVER heard of that... I'd have to go back and check out my church history, but I just don't remember anything like that in the last 1000 years of theology. If nothing else, we certainly don't have it now, and probably not since the 1500's - it goes completely against what we believe the sacrament of baptism to be about.Is It True That Catholics Use To Baptize Dead People?

Mormon have a tenancy to make things up.





That is utterly not true. A person is judged at death. Besides, think for a second, you have to have the person to baptize. The body of a dead person is not the person, it is only so much dust and water.





HOWEVER, Mormon will baptize you once you are dead. They will also marry you too.





Rather sick and insulting if you ask me. They have gone back through historical records and ';married'; off our popes and saints and ';mormon baptized them'; as well.





WHY? Because in order for a mormon male to be turned into a god and get their own planet, their entire lineage must be baptized. Oh the females, you only get to be a goddess if your husband says ok.





This is the primary reason why we Catholics will not share our parish registries and other historical documents with Mormons.





Oh and you yourself, be warned about those genealogical ancestry sites. Many exist for the purpose of creating databases for Mormon rituals.
Not that I've ever come across.





And if any future Mormon descendant of mine is baptized on my behalf I'll come back and haunt them, atheist or not!

Ask them to show it to you - in CATHOLIC teaching....not through a Mormon sourse.





Sacraments are ONLY for the living. The dead cannot possibly benefit from them. Their destiny is already determined.
It isn't that we baptize dead people. People are baptized for the dead person, not the actual person. That would be really gross, and in really poor taste to dig up a loved one to have them baptized. It's all done by proxy- a living person baptized for and in behalf of a dead person.





Oh.. I'm LDS, not catholic.. but I just wanted to explain it a little.
Of course they didn't. You may receive Baptism, confess, receive Communion, etc. performed on you over your deathbed, but once you are dead it is too late.
