Unlike me.Why do people use avitars that are not a true reflection of there selves,???
This might not be an all too realistic an impression. How could I, for instance, know that some is using an avatar that is not ‘true reflection of there selves’? I think is not merely physical appearance that counts here but the portrayal of an inner and deeper self come into contribution as well. There are people, however, who would like to hide their physical identities for some reasons of their own. Their avatar then would also be a reflection to this intention. Then what if I come across a partially sighted person in a real life situation. How would I ensure that that person sees me alright, exactly as I look to normal people? I cannot. So the best I would do would be just to be honest and kind to that person. My impression upon that person then would be like an avatar, and I hope will be a descent one.Why do people use avitars that are not a true reflection of there selves,???

Because most of the time it might just be the true reflection of what they wish they really looked. Anyways, it's not that important!

I am not going to work that hard for an avatar
because its yahoo answers and not a dating website. What you look like is completely unimporant to the reasoning behind the website. The only reason I have one is so people know I'm a girl, which does matter in many questions

For some, it's probably a privacy thing, for others they just want an image they particularly like, and for some it's probably an artistic representation of what they think or feel.

If we knew each other personally then it would be bad ettiquette to hide behind an avatar, but as we don't then it isn't.
